Speedwrite Review 2024: Pros, Cons and Alternatives
Every writer gets the same worry when using AI – ‘Is this plagiarism-free? Can it really be original content?!’.
With over 65% of people finding that AI tools write just as good or better than humans, it’s no wonder that new softwares keep coming up faster than you can say ‘AI’.
An up-and-coming writing tool, Speedwrite, claims that every word from its text generator is 100% unique. This tool creates a rewritten version of your input, making it particularly handy for students, marketers and any content creator looking to summarise information or improve their first draft.
But does Speedwrite live up to its claims? Is it the best book writing software, or are there better alternatives? Let’s find out in this ultimate Speedwrite review.
What is Speedwrite?
Launched in 2022, Speedwrite is an AI text rewriter that creates unique, high-quality content based on the source text you provide. With just one click, it creates an improved and polished version of your text. It promotes itself as ideal for creating essays, articles, and reports or simply for users looking to summarise text in their own words.
How Do I Use Speedwrite?
Using Speedwrite is simple(ish). Sign up on the Speedwrite website, then copy and paste the text you want rewritten in the input box.
For best results, the software asks that you paste 5 different paragraphs or over 100 words into the input box. So it can be fiddly to put in the right amount, especially if you want to rewrite a sentence or headline.
Once you have put your 100+ words, click “Predict” on each paragraph to create a rewritten and stronger version.
Top benefits of Speedwrite
1. Speedwrite Is Plagiarism-Free: It excels at generating original text, ensuring that plagiarism detectors do not flag your writing. This makes it a reliable tool for producing essays, articles, and reports where unoriginal information is detrimental to your work.
2. Speed and Efficiency: Speedwrite can produce content in minutes, significantly boosting productivity. This is especially beneficial for those who need large volumes of text quickly without sacrificing quality.
3. Intelligent Text Fixing: Beyond just rewriting, Speedwrite enhances the input text, correcting grammar and improving fluency. This ensures that the final output is not only unique but also refined and coherent, making it suitable for professionals, university level writing or creative fiction.
Best Features of Speedwrite
What features make Speedwrite supposedly stand out amongst the competition? Here are a few of their top features.
1. Writing Modes
Speedwrite has two writing modes. In the standard mode, you can copy and paste your text, and the tool will transform it into content suitable for university-level writing.
Speedwrite Creative is designed for personal and opinion-based writing, such as personal statements. It works best if you input only a few sentences and the result is a well-written paragraph.
2. Grammar tools
Speedwrite produces text without grammatical errors. How? It uses advanced AI algorithms to ensure the text is grammatically correct. By using natural language processing (NLP), the tool analyses and understands the context of the input text, allowing it to make intelligent corrections and improvements. It automatically checks for common grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, and proper punctuation.
Additionally, Speedwrite integrates sophisticated language models that refine the text’s structure and flow, making the final output even stronger. Take a look at the input I received after copying and pasting a summary of Pride and Prejudice from Britannica.
3. Rewriting Powerhouse
Speedwrite works best when you copy and paste your own research, thoughts and ideas into the input box. It allows the content produced to be original and well-written text, it still contains your own perspective, making Speedwrite very adaptive to your own input.
As it encourages you to put in your own research, this also means that the text you receive has fresh and current information, unlike many other writing tools that recycle the same old information. Moreover, whether the topic is subterranean rock particles or aeroplanes, the auto text generator only produces unique content. In fact, Speedwrite proudly claims that any text can be successfully pass Grammarly’s and even Unicheck’s plagiarism checker.
To test this, I put the Pride and Prejudice summary Speewrite gave me through Grammarly’s plagiarism checker. The result? No plagiarism.

Speedwrite Cons
- Doesn’t write independently: Speedwrite requires existing text to work and doesn’t create its own ideas. This can be frustrating if you want to be inspired or know that you are missing something in your text but aren’t sure quite what it is. Classic mode will not help your writer’s block.
- Poor User Experience: Based on reviews and my own experience, the tool is difficult to navigate. With the black backgrounds, the restriction on small word inputs and the need to select each paragraph separately to rewrite instead of being able to do it all in one, there are many irksome kinks in this tool
- Basic functions: There are many limitations to this writing aid, such as setting the writing tone, exploring the internet itself for information, generating new outputs based on feedback, or the fact that it only has 2 writing modes.
Speedwrite Alternatives
1. Copy.ai: This tool quickly and efficiently creates everything from social media posts to blog articles. It supports multiple languages, and its intuitive interface ensures that even beginners can create high-quality content easily. Unlike Speedwrite, which focuses on repurposing existing text, Copy.ai creates new marketing copy and has over 90 tools and templates, from paragraph generators to content idea generators.
2. Writesonic: Designed for creating SEO optimised and fact-checked content. Writesonic has tools for paraphrasing, expanding text, and summarising, making it a great tool for marketing content such as blogs, emails, and ads. You can also write in your own brand and style, completely rewrite articles and even create human-like voiceovers.
3. Quillbot: Known for its advanced paraphrasing capabilities, this AI writing tool is best for academic work. Like Spedwrite, it offers grammar and plagiarism checks. However, Quillbot also creates citations and improves your writing’s tone, making it an excellent tool for academic writing.
Should You Buy Speedwrite? My Own Thoughts
Speedwrite may live up to its claim of creating original work, but for me, the interface is difficult to use and just plain annoying. For starters, I have to input 100+ words, which makes it difficult when you just want variations of a few lines. Secondly, it’s annoying to have to hover my input, waiting for the ‘predict’ button to show before clicking.
Plus, there is a huge lack of features. While it’s comforting to know that it prioritises originality, Speedwrite’s lack of features is a significant drawback. The platform doesn’t offer templates tailored to different writing purposes, and users cannot provide feedback on the generated output. This means you have to use whatever the AI produces without the ability to refine or adjust based on your needs.
In a nutshell – there are far more sophisticated and effective writing assistants that deserve your money.
Is Speedwrite Worth It?
No. You can get far better tools with a wider range of capabilities at a lower price. Unfortunately, Speedwrite feels like it’s stuck in the dinosaur age of AI writing tools. Don’t waste your money on it—there are more advanced and cost-effective options out there that offer far more value and versatility.
Is Speedwrite Legit?
Yes, Speedwrite is legit. It is a writing tool that generates unique, well-written writing based on the text you provide. The original content it creates is particularly useful for students and users looking to write a summary in their own words, as Speedwrite claims that all of its text passes plagiarism detectors.
