About Marie
Word wizard, reading junkie and writing addict.
1. Graduation
It all started when I was fresh out of university, an English Literature degree in my hands, and a roadmap of my future that looked like a blank page. The predictable options of teaching or continuing in academia didn’t appeal to me and truth be told I had no idea what to do next.

2. my first job in Marketing
So where to turn? I’d always had an interest in business (my childhood dream was to win Lord Sugar’s The Apprentice) so I helped out a friend with his marketing copy and things started to click.
Jump to 2 years year later, where I write everything from blogs to emails to slogans and it gives me a thrill to watch businesses grow as a result of better communication to their customers.
3. over to you
I’ve studied Shakespeare to Milton to Le Guin and do you want to know the part they play in my copywriting today?
Squatch. Nill. Diddly Squat. Zilch – have I rested my case?
The truth is that the whole 4 years I spent studying some of the greatest literature offered to (mankind) has (and trust me, I’m reluctant to say this) acquired myself zero skills that I use today in my copywriting.
Sure, I might throw in a little assonance here, a cute adage over there and I am one for an alliteration too (the latter sentence proves this point – autological) but generally speaking my skills developed from courses, books and experience!
What does this mean you? You can become a topnotch writer from the golden nuggets of knowlege I’ve learned over the years.
